BYUtv $1.2 Million Privacy Settlement: Who Qualifies, Claim Deadline & Payout Details

YUtv $1.2 Million Privacy Settlement

Brigham Young University, operating as BYUtv, has agreed to a $1.25 million settlement to resolve claims that it improperly shared subscribers’ video-viewing data with Meta (formerly Facebook).

If you had a Facebook account, registered with BYUtv, and streamed at least one video on www.byutv.org between November 12, 2022, and May 9, 2025, you may be eligible to receive a cash payment of about $6.31.

Why Is There a BYUtv Class Action Settlement?

The lawsuit, filed under the Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA), alleged that BYUtv used the Meta Pixel on its website to track and disclose subscribers’ personally identifiable video-viewing data without consent.

While BYUtv denied wrongdoing, it chose to settle to avoid the risks and costs of ongoing litigation.

  • Watched at least one video on BYUtv.org
