The University of Cape Coast offers a variety sandwich programmes in both the undergraduate and postgraduate modes. Some of the undergraduate sandwich programmes offered by the university are the 3-semester Bachelor of Education programmes and the 5-semester Bachelor of Education programmes.
The UCC Three Semester Sandwich Undergraduate Programmes have been introduced to aid basic schoolteachers with Diploma in Basic Education to acquire a bachelor’s degree through the sandwich mode.
The programmes were designed by the University of Cape Coast through their Institute of Education. it was designed in partnership with the Ghana National Association of teachers (GNAT).
This has become a flexible way to pursue higher education since one does not need a study leave with or without pay to pursue the programme. The programme is schedule to run during vacations when both students and teachers are on break.
The programmes are set to run for three long vacations with 6 weeks of active engagement during each vacation period.
Courses Offered under the UCC 3-Semester Programme
There are three major programmes that are offered in the UCC 3-Semester Sandwich programme. These include:
- B.Ed. (Post Diploma) Early Childhood Education
- B.Ed. (Post Diploma) Primary Education
- B.Ed. (Post Diploma) Junior High School (JHS) Education.
These courses are offered in the university’s satellite campuses and centres across the nation.
