Available Programmes
The Colleges of Education offer the following four-year Bachelor of Education programmes:
- Early Grade Education
- Primary Education
- Junior High School (JHS) Education – with specializations in subjects such as Science, Mathematics, ICT, Home Economics, Music, Visual Arts, Social Studies, Geography, History, English, Ghanaian Languages (e.g., Asante-Twi, Ewe, Ga), French, Arabic, Building Technology, Electrical Technology, and Wood Technology.
General Admission Requirements
WASSCE/SSSCE Applicants
Applicants must have credit passes in six subjects comprising three core subjects, including English Language, Core Mathematics, and Integrated Science or Social Studies, and three elective subjects relevant to the chosen programme.
GCE Advanced Level Applicants
Candidates should have passes in three subjects (at least one at Grade D or better) and credit passes in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, and a Science or Social Science subject.
Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE) Applicants
Applicants must have passes in three subjects (at least one at Grade D or better) and credit passes in five subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science or Social Studies in the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE).
Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Applicants
Candidates should possess TVET Certificate II with lower credit or better in six subjects, comprising three core subjects (English, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies) and three relevant elective subjects. Additional qualifications may include Certificate II in relevant trade areas awarded by recognized bodies, NABPTEX Certificate II, or National Certificate II in Competency-Based Training (CBT).
Foreign Qualifications
All foreign qualifications must be evaluated by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to determine their equivalence and eligibility for admission. Note that standardized tests like the American SAT or TOEFL are not acceptable as standalone entry qualifications.

Applicants must have credit passes in three core subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science or Social Studies, and three relevant elective subjects.
Application Procedure
Payment for Application
Applicants are required to pay a non-refundable fee of Three Hundred and Fifty Ghana Cedis (GHS 350.00) into the Colleges of Education, Ghana Account at any branch of the Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG) Limited. Alternatively, payment can be made through mobile money wallets: Tigo Cash, Vodafone Cash, Airtel Money, and MTN Mobile Money by dialing *924*8# from all networks.
Online Application
Upon payment, applicants will receive:
- A Personal Identification Number (PIN)
- An Admission Application Serial Number
- The Admission Website Address: https://admission.coeportal.edu.gh
Applicants should use the PIN to access the admission portal and follow the provided guidelines to complete the online application form. It is important to select first, second, and third choices of Colleges of Education in order of preference and choose a Ghanaian language offered at the selected colleges.
Submission of Completed Application
After completing the online form, applicants must print a copy and send it along with one passport-sized photograph and copies of their result slips (if available) by EMS priority envelope obtainable from Ghana Post to the Principal of their first-choice College of Education.
Important Notes
- Applicants will be notified of the receipt of their applications by SMS and should provide accurate and reliable mobile phone numbers.
- Admission offer notifications will also be sent via SMS. Applicants who do not receive such notifications may consider their applications unsuccessful.
- The Colleges of Education will verify applicants’ results from the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). Submission of falsified documents will lead to legal consequences.
