Admission Requirements for WASSCE Holders
Candidates with the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) must have at least six credit passes ranging from A1 to C6. These should include three core subjects—English Language, Mathematics, and either Integrated Science or Social Studies. In addition, applicants must pass three elective subjects relevant to the chosen programme, with a total aggregate of 36 or better.
Applicants must also meet any special requirements related to their selected programmes. These additional requirements may vary depending on the faculty or department.
Admission Requirements for SSSCE, ABCE, and GBCE Holders
Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE), Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE), and General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE) holders must obtain six passes between grades A and D. These passes must include English Language, Mathematics, and either Integrated Science or Social Studies. At least three of the passes must be in relevant elective subjects linked to the intended area of study.
Admission Requirements for School Certificate or GCE Holders
Applicants presenting School Certificate or General Certificate of Education (GCE) results must have five credits at the “O” Level, including English Language and Mathematics. In addition, candidates must have two “A” Level passes in relevant subjects, excluding the General Paper.
Admission Requirements for Diploma and HND Holders
Individuals who have completed a Diploma or Higher National Diploma (HND) from an accredited institution are eligible to apply. The diploma must be in a discipline relevant to the chosen Bachelor’s programme. Selection will depend on the applicant’s academic performance and the specific requirements of the programme.
Admission Requirements for Mature Applicants
Mature applicants must be at least 25 years old by September of the academic year. In addition, they must hold at least one of the following qualifications: GCE, SSSCE, WASSCE, DBS, RSA, or a TVET certificate. Candidates are also expected to have at least two years of work experience in a related field.
Furthermore, all mature applicants must sit for and pass the General Aptitude Test (GAT) and the Subject Area Test (SAT), which will be organized by the university.
Mature Entrance Examination Schedule
First Entrance Examination – July 2025
The first round of entrance examinations for mature applicants will take place on Friday, July 25, 2025. The General Aptitude Test (GAT) will begin at 10:00 am, followed by the Subject Area Test (SAT) at 1:00 pm. The examinations will be held at the following centres:
- Winneba – UEW, North Campus
- Techiman – UEW Distance Education Study Centre, Tadieso
Second Entrance Examination – November 2025
A second opportunity to sit for the mature entrance examinations will be offered on Friday, November 7, 2025. The General Aptitude Test (GAT) starts at 10:00 am, and the Subject Area Test (SAT) begins at 1:00 pm. Examinations will be conducted at the following venues:
