Facebook $725 Million Privacy Settlement: How Much is the Payout Per Person?

Facebook Settlement ChecksFacebook Settlement Checks

If you filed a claim in Facebook’s $725 million privacy settlement, your payment may be on the way. The settlement administrator confirmed that payouts have already started reaching claimants.

The settlement comes after years of lawsuits accusing Facebook of mishandling user data and sharing it with third-party companies, including advertisers and data brokers. The most notable incident was the 2018 Cambridge Analytica scandal, where user data was used to build voter profiles. While Meta, Facebook’s parent company, denied any wrongdoing, it agreed to the $725 million settlement in 2023.

Who Will Receive a Payment?

People who filed claims last year and were approved will receive an official email from “Facebook User Privacy Settlement Administrator” (donotreply@facebookuserprivacysettlement.com).

The subject line reads: “Facebook User Privacy Settlement – Settlement and Distribution Status Update.”
This email confirms your claim has been approved and includes your claim ID number.

When Are Payments Being Sent?

Payments started going out in September 2026 and will continue over the next 10 weeks.

Some Facebook users reported receiving their payments on September 15, 2026. Depending on the option you selected when you filed your claim, the money may arrive in:

  • PayPal
  • Venmo
  • Direct deposit
  • Prepaid Mastercard
  • Other payment apps

The sender will appear as: Facebook Consumer Privacy User Profile Litigation Settlement.

Claimants will also get another email notice 3–4 days before the payment is issued.

How Much is the Facebook Settlement Payout Per Person?

The average payment is $29.43, while the maximum payout is $38.36, according to a court filing dated September 5, 2026.

The payout amounts are calculated based on two factors:

  1. How long you had a Facebook account between May 24, 2007, and December 22, 2022.
    • Each month of active use equals one “allocation point.”
  2. The total number of valid claims filed.

The settlement fund was divided among millions of claimants after deducting administrative costs and legal fees.

People who were on Facebook for the entire 15-year period received the highest payout, while those who joined later or used Facebook for fewer years are receiving smaller amounts.

If you filed a claim, expect an average settlement payment of about $29, with the maximum reaching $38.36. Payments are being distributed now and will continue through the fall of 2026.
