AT&T customers in the United States may be eligible for compensation of up to $7,500 after the company agreed to a $177 million settlement over two major data breaches. If your personal information was compromised, you can submit a claim to receive a payout—but deadlines apply.
Below is a detailed guide on who qualifies, how to file a claim, deadlines, and when payments will be made.
Why Is AT&T Paying a Settlement?
The settlement follows two large data breaches:
- March 2026 breach: Hackers leaked the personal information of 7.6 million current account holders and 65.4 million former customers. Stolen data included Social Security numbers, account details, and other sensitive information.
- 2022–2023 breach: Hackers accessed AT&T customer call and text records from May 1 to Oct. 31, 2022, and some records from January 2, 2023. While no Social Security numbers or account passwords were leaked in this breach, phone records were compromised.
A federal judge gave preliminary approval in June 2026. The final approval hearing is scheduled for December 3, 2026.

You may qualify for compensation if you were affected by either or both breaches:
- March 2026 breach: U.S. customers whose names, addresses, phone numbers, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, account details, or billing information were leaked.
- 2022–2023 breach: AT&T account owners, line users, or customers whose phone numbers appeared in the leaked call/text records.
- Overlap settlement class members: Some customers may qualify for both settlements, meaning they could receive up to $7,500.
