National service in Ghana is a mandatory requirement of all tertiary students who are in their final year or have completed any of the accredited tertiary institutions in the country. But before embarking on this mandatory journey, one must visit the National Service Scheme’s portal at www.nss.gov.gh and register to be eligible for deployment. Below is a step-by-step guide on how to register for national service on your own.
How to Register for National Service
So once the portal is opened for registration this is what you must do.
1. First you need to visit www.portal.nss.gov.gh to acquire and pay for your PIN Code using your Student ID or index number and your date of birth.
2. Click on check and pay for PIN Code.
Note: You can pay for the PIN Code at any ADB Bank Ghana Ltd. Branch or via MTN MoMo platform using the steps below.
• Log onto www.portal.nss.gov.gh
• Select check and pay for pin code
• Enter your index number and date of birth and press search
• Enter your phone number and click on next to pay for registration.
3. After the payment, click on proceed to registration or visit www.portal.nss.gov.gh/registration-signin to access the registration portal directly.
4. Enter your school index number, PIN Code and date of birth in the spaces provided.
Fill out the spaces provided and submit to complete the registration process.
That’s it all simple you’re good to go. But make sure you have the following ready.
• Date of birth
• Index number
• Passport picture
• Phone number
• Valid ID (Voter’s ID (New one) , Passport, Driver’s license, SSNIT number)
• Residential address
• Digital address
• Residential Region
• Residential district
• Town
• Marital Status
• Guardian name
• Guardian number
• Next of Kin name
• Next of Kin number
• Next of Kin relationship
• Preferred password for dashboard
Note: After registering make sure you print the summary because you will need it. If you are using a mobile phone, click on print summary and save as pdf
